Changing the Story

Seminar with Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee
June 29, 2013, 10am - 4:30pm
Mercy Center, Burlingame, CA

“The only way to change the world is to change the story."

The real stories that can change our lives come from the mythic, archetypal world of the soul. What are the stories that are needed at this time, to help awaken us from the collective nightmare of materialism that is destroying our ecosystem? How can we work to bring these transformative stories into our communities and our daily life?

This event is cosponsored by the Mercy Center and The Golden Sufi Center.

Spiritual Ecology: A Spiritual Response to our Present Ecological Crisis

Seminar with Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee
July 11, 2013, 7:00pm - 9:00pm
California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco, CA

Spiritual Ecology is a spiritual response to our present ecological crisis. The signs of global imbalance, climate change, the extinction of species, are not just physical symptoms. As Thich Nhat Hanh writes, these are “bells of mindfulness,” calling us to be attentive, to wake up and listen. The earth needs our attention. It needs us to help heal its body, damaged by our exploitation, and also its soul, wounded by our desecration, our forgetfulness of its sacred nature. We need to act from a place of real awareness, attentive to the outer and inner need of the earth. Only when we remember what is sacred canwe bring true understanding to our present predicament.

This talk will explore this most pressing need of our time: how we are facing not just a physical ecological crisis but also a spiritual crisis, one that demands a spiritual response from each of us.

Spiritual Ecology: The Cry of the Earth - An Evening with Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee

Hosted by Point Reyes Books
July 27, 2013, 7:00pm - 9:30pm
Dance Palace, Point Reyes Station, California

Tickets:  $15

Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee will speak about his new book, Spiritual Ecology: The Cry of the Earth. For the past few years he has been writing and lecturing about the need for a spiritual response to our present ecological crisis. Following this he has recently compiled the book, which is collection of essays by different spiritual teachers, scientists, Indigenous leaders, and others articulating this pressing need.

Our present ecological crisis is undeniably the greatest man-made disaster this planet has ever faced—its accelerating climate change, species depletion, pollution and acidification of the oceans. A central but rarely addressed aspect of this crisis is our forgetfulness of the sacred nature of creation, and how this affects our relationship to the environment.

Only when we remember what is sacred can we bring true understanding to our present predicament. This talk will explore this most pressing need of our time: how we are facing not just a physical ecological crisis but also a spiritual crisis, one that demands a spiritual response from each of us.

The talk will be followed by time for questions. Tea and refreshments will be provided.

Deep inside every human being there is a place that connects us with our primal nature and gives us access to an inner wisdom. If individuals or groups make a connection with this inner core, they access the universal knowledge of unity and thus experience life from a broader perspective. The Oneness Center offers a space that allows us to learn how to access this simple and yet dynamic state of oneness individually and collectively, bringing it into our daily lives.

Elemental - Special Prescreening

1. February 2013, Bern at the Oneness Center
7pm - approx 10pm

To realize the film "Elemental" the Global Oneness Project team filmed across three continents. The documentary not only talks about the most pressing ecological challenges of our time, but it also tells the story of three individuals united by their deep connection with nature and driven to confront some of those challenges.

The film follows an Indian government official gone rogue on a 40-day pilgrimage down India's once pristine Ganges river, now polluted and dying. It shows the "David and Goliath" struggle against the world's largest industrial development, the Tar Sands, across the globe in norhtern Canada and in Australia an entrepreneuer's search for inverstors willing to risk millions on his conviction that nature's own systems hold the key to our world's ecological problems.

A Compass for Thinking

Nathalie Knapp reads from her latest book that will be published in March
8. March 2013, Bern at the Oneness Center
7pm - 8:40pm

In a fast and complex world our habitual ways of thinking don't work any longer. More and more people cannot cope wit the demands of our time any more. The feeling of being unable to cope has become the background noise of modern life. we should, however, get used to unexpected events upsetting our plans and strategies. We not only have to learn to live with insecurities and react flexibly but we we also need to understand that they are a new quality. Instead of holdingon to plans we have made we need to be able to think in new ways and find unexpected solutions. With its practical philosophy, Nahalie Knapp's latest book holds the key to learning how to deal properly with complexity and find a new sense of direction in order to look towards the future confidently.

Spiritual Ecology

December 3, 2011
Mercy Center, Burlingame, CA 94010
10am - 5pm, $65

Spiritual Ecology is an exploration of the spiritual dimension of our present ecological crisis. At the root of our crisis, this irreversible climate change and a mass extinction of species, is a deep forgetfulness of the sacredness of creation. This primal split between spirit and matter has allowed us to pollute and desecrate our planet until its ecosystem is dying. How can we reclaim this inner connection that is so vitally needed at this time, work to heal our wounded and suffering world and its soul, the anima mundi.  How can our spiritual practice, our prayers, help the world?

This seminar will include a talk and discussion, as well as a practice of praying for the world. For event details, and registration information, please visit: Dec 3rd seminar: Spiritual Ecology

Breath and Silence—A Breath Cycle—Part 3

10. December 2011, Bern at the Oneness Center
2pm - 5pm, Seminar with Ursula Hofer

The breath cycle holds the mystery of coming into being and passing away. If we consciously experience the breath in its threefold nature of in-breath, out-breath and pause in-between we can experience the fundamental laws of life. In this three-part cycle we turn our attention to the three phases of the breath (cycle): Part I In-breath (April 29), Part II Out-breath (June 25), Part III Pause in-between (December 10).

The Smile of the Senoi

16. September 2011, Bern at the Oneness Center
7.30pm - 9pm, Reading with Franziska Espinoza and Patrick Blank

The ancient People of the Senoi live a simple and elusive life in the mountain jungles of Malaysia. No watches, no phones, no cars. They start the day with sharing their dreams, stories from the “real” world. They call themselves Senoi, the People, and they see themselves as being part of All-That-Is. Robert Wolff’s stories are far more than just an account of a displaced people. They hold up a mirror to us and our way of living and they challenge us to rediscover our humanity and the interconnectedness with all of life in today’s fragmented world.

Deep inside every human being there is a place that connects us with our primal nature and gives us access to an inner wisdom.
